Marquard & Bahls AG is expanding its activities beyond its existing lines of business and is entering the biogas market. The newly established subsidiary Mabagas GmbH & Co. KG will realize biogas projects at a national and international level.
Production of biogas from biomass is among the most rapidly growing markets in the renewable energy sector. Mabagas GmbH & Co. KG will realize biogas projects in the German and international markets, utilizing biomass and waste products. The company will benefit from existing synergies within the Marquard & Bahls group. The first project is expected to commence in early 2009.
The new company will be headed by MD Frank Riering, previously head of Business Development at Proenergy Contracting. Mabagas will have its headquarters in Bochum.
Marquard & Bahls has been operating in the international energy and oil business since 1947 and is a leading independent petroleum company. The company’s core competencies include: oil trading (Mabanaft), tank storage (Oiltanking), aviation fueling (Skytanking) and renewable energies (GEE Energy).
